RadCARE BillThe OSRT advocates higher health care standards and the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility and Excellence
(CARE) in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy bill promotes a minimum level of education, knowledge, and skill level,
for individuals working in medical imaging and radiation therapy. |
The CARE Bill Has Been Introduced - Contact Your Representative Today! On June 2, the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility and Excellence (CARE) in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy bill was introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Ed Whitfield of Kentucky as H.R. 2104. Joining Rep. Whitfield in the introduction was an unprecedented number of 18 original cosponsors. This extraordinary support speaks volumes for the potential enactment of the CARE bill. The list of cosponsors continues to grow, as does support from other health care organizations and associations, as well as patient advocacy groups and influential members of Congress. In March the Fraternal Order of Eagles , an 850,000-member charitable organization involved in medical research, announced its support of the CARE bill and in April every presenter at a radiation therapy briefing on Capitol Hill voiced support for the CARE bill. While support for the bill continues to build, we cannot ignore the importance of your contribution to its success. Without your individual voice combining with other radiologic technologists the CARE bill would not be flourishing. You have shown a true commitment to your profession and improving patient care. Thank you. That being said, we are on the cusp of success and your help is still needed to achieve this great goal. We are asking all ASRT members to contact their representatives today and ask them to cosponsor the CARE bill. If they are not a cosponsor, ask them to become one. If they are a cosponsor, urge them to get their colleagues to join the members of Congress who care about quality healthcare and cosponsor H.R. 2104. Tell them the CARE bill will establish education and certification standards for all technical personnel who plan and deliver radiation therapy and perform medical imaging exams. You can view a complete list of cosponsors as well as read the text of H.R. 2104 on the ASRT website. The ASRT has made it easy for you to write your representative. Simply go to the ASRT eAdvocacy for You site and click on the Take Action button in the action alert. An e-mail has been started for you, but your representative wants to hear from you, so please take the time to personalize it and tell him or her why the CARE bill is important to you. You make a difference, so don't hesitate; do it today. Thank you for your time. If you want to become even more involved, please join the ASRT Grass-roots Network. By joining, you will be among the first to receive updates and information to help you advocate for health care issues that affect the medical imaging profession. Sincerely, |
